MCP (AI assistants)
Example prompts
Things to ask your AI assistant once MagicWP is connected
Write the way you would ask a colleague. Name the site by its domain; the assistant finds it. Long jobs, such as building a site or applying updates, run in the background: the assistant tells you which step they're on and can wait for them to finish.
Check on your sites
- "Give me an overview of all my sites: anything down, failing or waiting for updates?"
- "Is example.com up? How fast does its front page answer?"
- "What changed on example.com this week?"
- "Which of my sites use the most CPU and disk right now?"
Updates
- "Which plugins on example.com have updates?"
- "Take a backup of example.com, then apply all plugin updates and tell me when it's done."
- "List pending WordPress core updates across all my sites."
- "Turn on auto-updates for the WooCommerce plugin on example.com."
New sites, staging and backups
- "Create a new WordPress site on PHP 8.4 and tell me when it's ready."
- "Create a staging copy of example.com."
- "What would pushing staging live change on example.com?"
- "I pushed staging to example.com yesterday. Which revert points can I roll back to?"
- "Take a backup of example.com before I change the theme."
Speed and settings
- "Why is example.com slow? Check its resources, caching and PHP settings."
- "Turn on the Redis object cache for example.com and flush the page cache."
- "Raise the PHP memory limit on example.com to 512M."
- "Put example.com in maintenance mode while I work on it."
WordPress
- "Give me a Magic Login link for example.com's wp-admin."
- "Send a password reset email to the WordPress user jane on example.com."
- "Which WordPress users on example.com are administrators?"
- "How much would a database cleanup remove on example.com?"
Domains and redirects
- "Add a 301 redirect on example.com from /old-pricing to /pricing."
- "Add the domain shop.example.com to my site and tell me which DNS records it needs."
Changes that need your confirmation
For destructive actions the assistant explains what will happen and asks you to type the site's domain:
- "Replace www.old-domain.com with www.new-domain.com in example.com's database." The assistant first runs a preview and shows how many rows would change.
- "Restore yesterday's backup of example.com."
- "Delete the site test.example.com."
