Transfer a Site

Hand a site over to another MagicWP account

Transferring moves a site — its files, database, domains, and settings — from your account to another MagicWP user's account. The receiver confirms the transfer with a code you email them, so nothing moves without their agreement.

Open the site and go to Settings → Transfer This Site.

Start a transfer

  1. Click Transfer, enter the recipient's account email, and click Send transfer.
  2. We email the recipient a claim link and a 6-digit confirmation code, and show you the same code once — copy it if you want to hand it over directly (for example if the email link expires).
  3. The site now shows a pending transfer. It stays yours until the recipient accepts.

The recipient needs an account

The email must belong to an existing MagicWP account. They'll also need an active subscription with a free site slot to accept — see below.

Cancel a transfer

While a transfer is pending, reopen Settings → Transfer and click Cancel transfer. The code and link stop working immediately. A transfer also expires on its own after 72 hours.

Accepting a transfer (recipient)

The recipient goes to Transfers in their dashboard (or clicks the email link) to see incoming transfers. For each one they can:

  • Set the disk limit for the site — keep its current limit, or pick a new one up to their account's storage capacity.
  • Accept — using the emailed link, or by typing the 6-digit code.
  • Decline.

Accepting requires being signed in as the invited email and having a free site slot. If there's no free slot, the recipient is told to remove a site or upgrade first — this is only ever shown to the recipient, never the sender.

Once accepted, the site (and its custom domains) move to the recipient's account, and the previous owner is emailed a confirmation.

Notes

  • Only the site and its domains move — billing history and invoices stay with each account.
  • The 6-digit code is single-use, capped at a few tries, and expires with the transfer.
